This is something God feels too. Since we are his children, it makes sense that we would take after him.
Did you know God's greatest desire is to have our relationship with him restored? Sin (separation from God)
messed up this relationship because it changed the way we feel about our Heavenly Father. We no longer feel comfortable sitting with him. And we can no longer stand the brightness of His presence. Our guilt has separated us from his love.
Have you ever experienced the pain of one of your children saying to you, "my schedule has changed and I can no longer spend time with you. I have too much to do"? You get the message loud and clear that you are not very important to them. This breaks the family bond of fellowship you had. It separates you from each other. We call this looking after number one. Selfishness hurts everyone.
Man broke that bond of fellowship many years ago when he said to God "I no longer need to do it your way, I am going to look after myself." Unknowingly he had separated himself from the most intrinsic need of his heart. The need to know and be known. The need to be a part of a loving family. God's agenda for making a new human family was so they could enjoy fellowship with him and each other. A face to face relationship.
We find ourselves left with impersonal relationships. Facebook type relationships, "this is what I like, like it or leave it." There isn't much heart to heart communication in that. And all because man says to God "get out of here, I don't need you, I can make it just fine." Selfishness leaves in our hearts an emptiness because we were created for something much better! We were created to be a part of a family where the happiness of everyone matters! A family where face to face matters!
Our God is a personal God. A God who longs to have that face to face communication restored. He calls to us to set aside our selfishness and make time for a face to face love date with him. " If there be any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit...fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love..." Philippians 2:1,2 And he has made a way through his son. His mercy is new every morning!
We can set aside our own agendas and meet in fellowship with him through the Spirit morning by morning...
and by spending time with him, we will be changed. By beholding his love we will become loving like him.
It will change all of our relationships. And once again we will become face to face compassionate people!
