"I heard the voice of the Lord; saying Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here I am; send me."
Have you ever wondered if you had a calling from the Lord? Some of us trudge along through life lamenting the fact that we haven't been called to go on any missions to foreign lands.
You can probably tell by the content of this website that our heart longs to do something for missions. And that our prayers are for those who are called to do this work.
God has shown me, that we are not to think that the only missionary work is in other countries. It very well may be right in our own homes with our children. They are waiting for us to show them the paths of truth and the way to walk in it. Their little ears are hearing everything we say. Their eyes are seeing everything we do and their little lives will reflect the spirit in which we do things. When I grudgingly do the things I know to do that are right, does God love that kind of service? No, not anymore than I do, when my children grudgingly do what I ask them to do. He says " he loves a cheerful giver." He wants our service to come from a thankful heart. Willing service is so much more enjoyable for us. He wants us to enjoy our lives so he has appointed us a special opportunity to give to others what we have received. Wherever we are we may have the privilege to serve others. And the joy to receive the love they give in return.
"To everyone who becomes a partaker of His grace the Lord appoints a work for others. Individually we are to stand in our lot and place, saying, "Here am I; send me." Isaiah 6:8. Upon the minister of the word, the missionary nurse, the Christian physician, the individual Christian, whether he be merchant or farmer, professional man or mechanic--the responsibility rests upon all. It is our work to reveal to men the gospel of their salvation. Every enterprise in which we engage should be a means to this end. {MH 148.2}
Those who take up their appointed work will not only be a blessing to others, but they will themselves be blessed. The consciousness of duty well done will have a reflex influence upon their own souls. The despondent will forget their despondency, the weak will become strong, the ignorant intelligent, and all will find an unfailing helper in Him who has called them. {MH 148.3}
